"I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Plant Biology, where my research focuses on understanding the how the sunflower's internal clock and environmental cues co-ordinate flowering and pollinator visits. I am also a member of the Postdoctoral Scholars Association (PSA) and in my role as vice chair my main duty is to managed, co-ordinate and organize the Postdoctoral Research Symposium (PRS). The Postdoctoral Research Symposium is the largest event hosted by the PSA, where postdocs from across campus can come together to share ideas, present their research and network in an interdisciplinary space. This is a free, full-day event where over 30 speakers present their research in nine concurrent sessions through out the day. Additionally, there are two poster sessions for more research presentation opportunities and career development workshops specifically geared towards postdoctoral fellows and the next step. The PSR 2018 meeting will be held on the 23rd of April 2018, for any information or if you would like to help out with the next event please contact me or the 2018 PRS Organizing Committee."

As the PSA treasurer, I'm responsible for organizing our annual budget and distributing funds to facilitate various PSA events such as the annual research symposium. Primarily I administer the PSA's quarterly travel grant that allows postdocs to present their research at conferences around the world and facilitates the networking and professional development opportunities that are essential for their careers. Beyond my specific budgetary duties, my role as a PSA officer focuses on improving the postdoc experience and helping my fellow researchers navigate an exciting but often difficult phase of their careers.

"As the Relations Officer to the PSA it is my job to keep postdocs up to date with what the PSA is doing and how they can take part in the various events and activities we arrange. This includes increasing engagement between the PSA and postdocs via our webpage and various social media channels.

I joined the PSA because I believe that together we can enhance and enrich the postdoc experience here at UC Davis."
